About five months ago, we showed you pictures of Margot’s finished trinket box. As an update on that, we’re happy to announce that at the recent EAC Seminar in Newfoundland, it won second place for the Viewer’s Choice Award. Congratulations, Margot!
I may be behind in my blog posts, but our members have certainly been keeping busy! In the slideshow to follow, we have a photo of two finished examples of the “Winterland” embroidery pattern by Elizabeth Almond. Following that we have the bargello sampler featured in EAC Magazine and a hardanger mat by Margaret, “Danish Tiles” by Marilyn, and two canvas work completed by Lyn, City Walk and Roseto respectively. Then we have the crewel piece “Midnight Meander” finished by Wendy, as well as her whitework/leaf study that she has used to cover the top of a box.
Early this spring, Alderney Needlearts participated at the Shearwater Hobby Show. Over a weekend, we had a good cross section of needlework styles on display and answered any questions people may have had. Wendy and Doreen had the first shift and started things off in style with their beautiful table display.
We now have a copy of “Embroidered Bags and Purses,” Krause Publications, 2004. This book is a collection of projects taken from Inspirations Magazine for lavishly embroidered, and sometimes beaded, purses. If you didn’t want to make it up into a bag, the designs are beautiful enough to be framed.
The latest issue of Stitch Magazine is also in, so have a look at some of the latest trends in needlework.
